Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Infectious Disease Policy Journal is committed to maintaining equitable access for both readers and authors. APCs help support the journal’s editorial and publishing infrastructure, including manuscript handling, peer-review administration, copyediting and production workflows, digital hosting, and open-access dissemination.

The applicable APC tier is determined by the World Bank income classification of the country of the corresponding author’s primary institutional affiliation at the time of submission. We offer generous waivers through IDA’s membership and sponsorship programs.

IDPJ follows a differentiated APC model for accepted manuscripts to promote equitable access:

• High-Income Countries: €500 per article
• Lower- and Upper-Middle-Income Countries: €250 per article
• Low-Income Countries: €100 per article (or full waiver upon request)

APC waivers may be available for eligible IDA members and sponsors.

Note: APCs are charged only after a manuscript has successfully completed review and has been formally accepted for publication. IDPJ does not charge submission fees or peer-review fees, and no payment is requested for rejected manuscripts. APC eligibility, waiver requests, and payment status do not influence editorial evaluation, peer review, or acceptance decisions.

Authors who wish to request a waiver or reduction should contact IDPJ after manuscript acceptance and before an invoice is issued. Waiver requests are considered independently of editorial assessment and are handled confidentially.

Payment and invoicing

Following acceptance, the corresponding author will be asked to provide the billing details required for invoice issuance. These details will be collected through IDPJ’s APC Billing Details Form before the invoice is prepared. The invoice may be issued to the author, their institution, funder, employer, or another authorized payer.

APC invoices are issued in EUR. Payment must be made so that IDPJ receives the full invoiced EUR amount. Any currency conversion costs, bank charges, or intermediary transfer fees are the responsibility of the payer.

Where required, institutional billing references, purchase order numbers, VAT/Tax ID details, or e-invoicing identifiers should be provided when submitting the billing details.
